Sep 13 - whew it's hot

Wow. Biking in the mid-80's when you're used to mid-60's is quite a change. Thoroughly dehydrated, shorts white with salt, I was wiped out. Riding along and thinking about the previous ride when I could have used some heat, this was definitely one extreme to another. Closing in on the 10-mile mark I thought that I'd had enough and would turn around, but kept going. The 25-mile mark also looked inviting as did the 30-mile mark -- especially the latter since I knew at that point that I'd have a water shortage ... but what's another 5 miles eh ? Of course that's 10 miles since it's a round trip. Anyway, I convinced myself that I shouldn't wimp out and do a shorter ride on these great roads in great conditions when I'd been riding 70 miles day after day on highways 522 and 69.

Back home, after some much-needed liquid and salt, I felt better but could feel the impact for the rest of the day. We went to the local wine warehouse because they were having a sale and picked up some wine ... the cooler is almost full so that's enough wine shopping for a while.

Before the wine store we visited the boating store on U.S. 1, looking for sandals for David. They didn't have anything but we did pickup some more life preservers and a cover-up for Sandy. Next door to the boating store is a pet store. Abby was going to run out of food soon so we picked up that and dishes for the boat and car. She had a car dish but it was left on the trailer hitch at one point by Sandy and didn't stay there for the trip ...

On the way home from the wine store we hit the vegetable market and the fish store, picking up mahi mahi and tuna to cover two nights. Fish is sure a lot cheaper here ... in fact living is sure a lot cheaper here. From there it was onto Food Lion so that I could re-stock my supply of ice-cream bars.

That pretty much made it a day. We watched some more Stargate SG1 before dinner.

Today we may go out in the boat. We were originally going up to Flagler Beach with Abby since she can go on the beach, but I'd like to go boating. Since it's Sunday there will be lots of boats on the water and it's as much fun to see them all as the boating itself.

That's it ... for now ...
