I guess that I've been at this blogging thing too long. That's certainly the case when I suddenly realize that it's 8am and I have not done my blog yet. How many people are waiting with baited breath ? ... or, as a client from Calgary used to say "worm on their tongue" (baited breath sounds better but think of the implication).
Anyway, Sandy and I headed in different directions yesterday. She went grocery shopping to all the usual places in Sudbury, spending the entire day and coming back with a car full. I went to the Parry Sound LCBO to pick up the 5 cases of wine that were supposed to be there but only one had come in. I also picked up a card and cake for Sandy, visited the TD bank to inquire about replacing Sandy's Access Card, went to Shoppers Drug Mart to pick up coin wrappers and took some stuff back to Rona and at the same time picked up grommets for the tarp that I'm going to wrap the gazebo in for the winter.
I felt good about my day -- I got a net credit from Rona and did not put anything else on credit cards or spend any money in my wallet. How did I do that ? By spending some of the $120 in twonies and Loonies that I had in my coin dish. With Stef's and Lauren's help I also wrapped pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters from my U.S. and Canadian coin dishes. Mind you, the drop in the Canadian $ was the only other offsetting financial bright spot in yet another busy/down day in the global markets. I'm going to have to do more fishing ... (some fishing ?).
I started another project yesterday which is copying my Dad's many, many video tapes to DVD. I've only reviewed three but I see Uncle Vic, Arlene, Stef, Sarah, Ethel, Dorie/Jack/Doloris Robinson and on and on. I've started with tapes from 1989, passing over the many tapes from their travels to Australia, Hawaii and the U.K. Undoubtedly I'll find some gems but there will be hours of scenery with perhaps the occasional inclusion of Mom. Copying is easy -- whether I'll ever get around to editing the good bits into shorter versions remains to be seen.
On the TV right now is April 1989 -- the lake frozen with deer running across it, Philip, Sarah & Meghan at the cottage, Stef making faces at the camera, Jeffrey studying hard and playing with his knife at the table. I guess that we were not there at the time because there is no place set at the table for us ! Oh -- there's Jeffrey fishing from the dock onto the ice -- will he catch anything but an ice cube ? Oh -- now there's a shot of some open water and he has a rock bass on the line.
The fall weather is beautiful. Cool, sometimes frosty mornings, sunny colourful days, a fire in the fireplace, fog on the lake partially obscuring the reflection from the trees -- what more could you ask for ?
I shot some more film yesterday and a partial roll this morning. I'll finish it off later today and develop those rolls, see if I can improve results with longer development times. Ok, it's time to get out on the bike as well. It's still going to be cool but if I don't get out now I never will (well, not until getting to Florida of course !).
That's it ...
