Feb 15 - changed plans, again

It happens. We were planning on going boating but it started to sprinkle. That's all we got all day but of course the Doppler made it look like we were going to get more ... someone did !

So ... I resumed painting the bathroom, getting one coat on over the course of the day and only leaving 1" of paint in the gallon. That's the bad news. The good news ? It only needs one coat. It seems that the primer did a wonderful job of creating a paintable surface. I touched up the inevitable handful of spots where a little white primer was showing through the light gray paint and that's finished.

It's time to trim, and mirror, and tile ...

Sandy went out and found some tile samples. She initially wanted to go sans tile, sans backsplash, but I said that inevitably water would soak into the drywall and make a mess, so we had to do something. The first samples that she brought back were plain white -- a few days ago -- now she's gotten much more creative with little metallic squares and diamonds and a variety of other fancy tiles. There's only five feet to do along the side and back so whatever she chooses will be easy (famous last words !).

I took Abby out for a short spin with the Whaler, which started up right away - yay ! I then decided to check the sprinkler heads and ended up replacing two of them by the road which were leaking. It's never ending. Really what I need to do along the road and driveway is dig them all up and set them back 6" to a foot so that they're less likely to get driven on. There's enough back-spray with these things that they don't need to be right at the edge.

We had so-called hog snapper for dinner, which was great. It's really hogfish, not a snapper at all. That was accompanied by the leftover wild rice and squash mixture. Just doing some reading, wild rice is not really rice, but a close cousin. I guess that we could call this the AKA dinner. Sandy sauteed some spinach to complement the other two ... yes, real spinach, not AKA !

Today -- Christie first thing -- and then it depends on the weather. I should really go biking but we should also go boating. The ideal thing would be biking today and boating tomorrow, but the weather tomorrow looks like rain.

Stay tuned ...

Onward !
