Sep 23 - two projects, at least

Minor, sort of.

I changed the oil in the X5.  That used to be easy with previous generations and is still easy with 330 and M5 (and guess what, they're old cars !).  The difficulty with the new X5 is that the oil filter canister faces downwards, under the car.  You have to unscrew and then deal with the flood of oil that pours down.  Of course I have the oil pan underneath but it's still a pain.

This X5 takes just under 10 quarts of oil.  The old one and the other two cars, take 8.  I should probably do Sandy's car as well but I'd have to pickup some more oil.

The longest part of this job was getting the car and the barn floor dry.  I used the big blower and it ran for a couple of hours.

And yes, it was wet yesterday.  I needed to clear the downspouts of the upper bedroom roof so I got out the bigger ladder and did that, then I decided that I'd run water up there and REALLY clean the gutters.  That was a project that took a couple of hours, dealing with all the gutters, high and low.  Luckily I was able to use the garden watering system; I'd turned that on earlier in the year.  It pumped a lot of water yesterday.  Lake water is plentiful !

I made a run into town to pick up mail and investigate other mailing options for the ISR patches to Eastern Europe.  The sky was clear at that point and Sandy took Cassie for a walk; I met them on the road coming back.  It's about 5 miles total, end to end, there and back.  Cassie puts in about 10 miles, good exercise for her !

Today we have a clear day and I'll hopefully get out on the bike.  After this, there's a sizeable percentage of rain in the forecast on most days.  I really should learn to use the trainer OR, to put that another way, have enough PATIENCE to use the trainer.  It's patience that I lack.

Onward ...
