We had a crowd for New Years, everyone but Aaron. Last ones out were the Nazareth gang on the 3rd. We planned to leave on the 6th but a snowfall got in the way and we headed out on Friday the 7th. We stopped overnight at the Erie Bayfront Sheraton, then the Columbia Marriott that we'd used going north and arrived in NSB on Sunday the 9th.
Jenny was happy to see us. Cassie was happy to get out of the car. We had dinner that night at the Tiki with Sheryl. All was well in our world.
A bike ride on Tuesday about killed me. It took a couple of days to recover. Hamid and Shab arrived on Thursday; Hamid and I headed to our 200/300 weekend early Saturday am. It was a good, fast day on the bike but with high winds and rain predicted for Sunday, we took a pass on the 300.
I'm trying to diagnose a problem with the M5. It goes into Failsafe mode when you try to accelerate when it's cold, like first thing in the am. I took it to Greg at BMW Werks and he read the codes but nothing is jumping out. Old spark plugs was one possibility but I eliminated that today - I just did my first spark plug change with this car. What.A.Bitch of a job. There's no room. Each plug has its own coil with a snorkel-like affair reaching down to the plugs. I went to harbor freight and picked up a thumb wheel ratchet and a couple of wobble ratchets - 3/8 and 1/4. It's been eons since the plugs were changed but they were relatively clean. I've numbered them for Greg to peruse.
From some codes that have appeared, I'm thinking throttle sensor. There are no misfires so it's not likely an injector.
We shall see.
Onward.
