Aug 3-7 - Manitoulin 1000k and onward

I have to blog about the ride itself but it's done; one DNF (not me !) and then drive home in time to say goodbye to Jason et al and then some chores yesterday.

I did some general bike cleanup, changed brakes, mounted some nice fat Compass tires to do a short ride later in the week etc etc.  The rebuilt wheel survived the 1000k but I'm taking the other to France.  I painted the concrete steps handrail and did the once-every-couple-of-years sewage sump cleanup.  It was much better this time, i.e. not as much buildup.  There were no "no-no's" in the sump, although I'd worried about stray wipes, perhaps, feminine hygiene products, perhaps, etc. that might clog the sump.  I removed a small bag of hardened chunky soap and ran water and ran water and ran water until it was clean. Partly this is in prep for a septic tank pumping in September - they're not really linked timeframe-wise but it's just a good idea.  Preventative maintenance.

I sorted out problems with the two cell phones and the ipad, getting messaging working again.  For that, I drove to 59 & 522 pre-dawn where I'd have cell service.  I didn't want to touch the watch so Sandy kept her appointment in Burlington and they simply unpaired and repaired.  I have to setup a 2nd apple id ... that's the root of the problem.  Kind of like only having one email address ...

Anyway, we're supposed to get some rain today so I won't likely be able to do any painting or riding.  I do have wine awaiting us in Parry Sound.  I didn't give Sandy the pickup notice so she didn't take care of that.  She was objecting anyway.

Today is Thursday.  We drive to Hemmingford on Sunday and then we're gone for a month.  Time is flying by !!!

Onward !
