Jan 17 - a long trip

We left the condo at 6 a.m. and arrived at the cottage at 1:30 a.m. Subtract three hours for the time zone change, that makes it a 16.5 hour trip.

The drive down to Vancouver went like clockwork, as did the flight. We landed on schedule at 5:40 but at 7:30 we were still on the way to Stef's who is not all that far from the airport. You make your way to the luggage carousels, wait for same, wheel through the airport to the parking-lot train, find the car, load it up and hit the road, drive slowly through the snowstorm, stop for gas ... time passes. It was close to an hour later that we left Stef's and were unlucky enough to get onto the 407 behind a group of snowplows spread across all the lanes ... even the shoulders ... and spent the next hour driving at 20 mph. Once on the 400 northbound, we hit some slow spots between Toronto and Barrie, generally moving around 40 mph, and then north of Barrie, between 50 mph and 60 mph driving through blowing and drifting snow.

Yes, they call it the Great White North for a reason !

It's snowing lightly here, -15C according to the internet and still warming up inside. I'll be going to Britt for 10:30 Mass; should probably check the driveway soon to ensure that I don't have to do any shoveling before leaving.

That's it !
