Well, I can't remember the last time that I had some sort of stomach flu, but I didn't go anywhere yesterday. Thanks to Arlene, I had her computer-fix-up project, so I was well occupied. I feel better this morning, although still a bit achy, but I had a bit of dinner last night and my breakfast this morning, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. These rides are very hard on the digestive system and that's where I'll be tomorrow.
Otherwise there is not too much to report. Sandy took the door back and they've re-ordered. It seems that there was some problem with the online system because it kept pointing at the wrong door, so they had to call Jeld-wen directly to place the order. It's supposed to be ready in a few days (???) which would be amazing for Jeld-wen, but perhaps we're at the top of the queue due to the problem. After Home Depot she went over to Boaters World but could not find sandals that she liked, so then she tried West Marine, stopping at the wine store while she was there. She did get wine, but no sandals. Perhaps the wine will make her forget about the sandals ? no, not unless she starts drinking in the morning !? -- just kidding of course.
I head off this afternoon to Gainesville for the 400km ride tomorrow. Sandy is also going to Gainesville, but not with me, to visit Barb Nute. She was originally going to come with me but we changed that plan since she'd just be sitting around in a crappy little motel (the Rush Lake Motel is not exactly a SPA). It looks like I'll have some company for the trip back since Hamid is going back to St. Augustine from Gainesville and will catch a ride to SR40 & I95 (Ormond Beach) to meet up with his wife. They are from Boca Raton but she is attending a wedding that day so will rendezvous with us and then they'll go to St. Augustine. It would have been a lot further for her to drive to St. Augustine, in the middle of the night. Hopefully this works out well -- a variety of things could make it awkward -- different riding speeds, my stomach problems causing me to DNF (Did Not Finish), whatever else.
I'm not sure about the weather tomorrow -- they are calling for showers here but not in Gainesville. I suppose that's possible. They are calling for high winds here (great !) but only 10-20mph in Gainesville. Perhaps given how I'm feeling I'd be better off doing a lot of drafting behind others tomorrow ... we'll see.
Oh yes, and I do have Arlene's computer working. So far so good. I've been copying files from one disk to another, not a lot of other stress, but it's been working flat out. I'm still not sure how long it will last -- if the issue was simply processor-related, then perhaps we are in good shape. Hopefully I can get this cleaned up and back in the mail to her next week.
Nothing much else to report ...
