Ok, what happened ... it's not what happened but what I hope will happen !
The weather forecast for next Saturday has changed to 79F and partly cloudy ... yesssss !!!
One of these days I'll ride one of these long rides in the rain, but perhaps I can keep extending my record. I've had cold ... that's enough !
Anyway, what about yesterday. Well, it went pretty much as planned only we ran a bit late. The weather was hot and humid, but cloudy for most of the day. I went up to Home Depot to find the Roundup -- sounds easy, right ? Well, no ... I ended up calling Sandy for clarification.
I'd picked up a gallon (that's how much they want) of Roundup and then spotted a more expensive version -- "concentrated" and they also have "pro" -- I called Sandy so that she could check the sheet and naturally they wanted the "concentrated" ... $97 per gallon !! vs $9.99 gallon for the dilute stuff. Their paper specifically referenced diluted stuff as a no-no. Yikes. Well, I guess that's the price that I pay for having volunteers -- they're cheap ... but the chemical is expensive.
Next it was back east on SR44 to the jewelery store to pickup my watch which had been in for a battery change and pressure test. He said that the watch was probably good for 3-4 more batteries before the gasket would have to be replaced. Ok, that's 6-8 years ... I'll worry about that later !
Eastward again on SR44 to the Post Office, but of course they were closed, so that was fruitless.
Home -- Sandy was finished gardening by that point, having transplanted some plants from pots out the back to new locations in the side garden. I've now got to add some drippers to that hose for the new plants. She had also eaten lunch so we got organized and set out for the bike store in Ormond Beach and afterwards to Flagler Beach.
I simply wanted to look at some bike shorts -- not do do any buying ... so that didn't take long. At the beach, Abby had a ball. Sandy had her bathing suit on and with Abby on leash (8 foot max) she took her into the waves. Abby's new trick is jumping the waves -- she loves it ... and swimming in the deep water. She used to hate the waves, now they are part of the action.
We drove back, exploring a new area because I'm trying to map out some more bike routes (always about biking, whatever we do it seems) and got back home in time for ... you guessed it ... wine, snacks and SG1 !
Sandy made the Tuna Tartar that I love -- I've been after her for a while to do this ... and we also had an excellent piece of grouper, salad and sweet potato fries. I think that I maxxed out on protein at dinner, feeling as full as if I'd had steak. Perhaps the addition of the avocado that is in the tuna tartar is what provides the very full feeling.
Another day was done ... and another day begins. I've got to leave in a few minutes for Mass, then will go for a short ride before we head to Bev's. This is really a short ride -- one hour -- so I should really change my riding style for that and do a max effort for the return leg.
Happy Easter to all ...
