Apr 13 - in conclusion

I should have posted that last one this morning because there's not much more to say about yesterday.

We had a cheap meal last night -- steak. Beef prices are so reasonable right now that it almost vies with chicken. I was in the grocery store the other day and saw whole filet mignon for $8.99 per pound. That's $2-$4 per pound less than most of the fish that we buy. Anyway, last night's meal was boneless rib steaks that I think came from Costco some time ago and were in the freezer. We had enough leftover from dinner for a stir fry sometime in the future, so the remnants went back into the freezer.

It's "clean out the fridge" time. I had my last date square. We're finishing up things like cheeses, spreads, etc. as we watch SG1 episodes. There's a little bit of ice cream in the freezer that will probably go today ... if I remember it.

I have my "to do" list to tackle before we go but it isn't very long, mostly last minute stuff and a list of what to bring with us. We're planning on bringing the boat, but Sandy wondered aloud yesterday if we should leave the boat until we're back in June. My inclination is to bring it ... but I could always change my mind. There's stuff that I want to bring that we wouldn't be able to fit in the car, so the boat makes a handy transport mechanism.

I hear a rumble outside. We've got thunderstorms in the area. I'm hoping to get out on the bike today but that could fall through. If I cannot get out today then that will be bumped to tomorrow, which will spoil our plans for a boat ride -- you can see what takes priority at this point. I suppose that I could always go out and just get wet ... but that's messy. If I went biking tomorrow then we could go boating on Thursday, I guess. Tough decisions ! Friday is also a candidate for a boat ride although I'll be leaving late afternoon for Gainesville so we'd have to get going early.

We plan on getting together with Patti and Norm for dinner today, which will be the last time that we see them for a while. They won't be here in June, already up at their place in Connecticut; nor are they likely to be here in September, the next time that we're going to be down.

Our official notice came in from the Smyrna Yacht Club yesterday that we've been accepted ... no surprise. Our challenge is now to use the place. I've got to talk to someone in the next few days about getting a credit card on file etc. Norm will know all about that -- I'll talk to him tonight.

I said that there was not much to be said, but as usual my fingers runneth over. It's 5:57 ... time for breakfast for me and Abby !
