oh -- a postscript -- I just weighed the back-up bike that I'd built a couple of years ago -- a Scattante aluminum frame, Weyless Fork, 9 speed Dura-Ace hand-me-down components, aluminum handlebars, aluminum seatpost (as opposed to carbon, not as comfortable), wheels that I built from Dura-Ace hubs and Mavic Open Pro rims -- 18.4 pounds without seatpack/tools/pump. It's not as comfortable a bike to ride due to the stiffness of the aluminum, but it's reasonably lightweight.
Aaron rode this a few times; I've ridden it a couple of times; Jeffrey has used it; Jerry used it when he was visiting during March 2008. I've debated whether I should sell it, but perhaps I should get it up to Jeffrey's for him ... and for me ... although I'll likely always bring another bike with me.
Decisions, decisions ...
