May 4 - the watcher

What a funny dog.  It's fascinating how the personalities are different.  Someone who had never had a dog ... or cat ... wouldn't understand.  Vickie, Abby, Cassie -- totally different.

Cassie is a watcher.  Rather than be in the kitchen with me she'll lie by the front door to see what's happening on the road.  She just went outside and I know that she went around the house and will be lying on the driveway ... watching.  Abby spent very little time outside by herself; had to be around people.    If we're in the back yard she will generally hang around, but that's because she wants me to throw the ball.  That's different.  She wants to play.  Otherwise ... she's watching.

I rode yesterday, into a stiff headwind.  I plan to ride again today.  The wind is predicted to be 20-30 mph WSW, so I'll have wicked cross winds.  Good exercise ... right.

I went over to Total Vision yesterday and got my prescription checked again.  The new glasses just aren't working for me. New or old, I've got vertical ghosting.  That said, it's interesting how vision is better with two eyes than one; better than either eye.  That's because your brain is interpolating between and making a better image.

The doctor said that the reason that I'm seeing ghosting is that as we get older some of the gel in your eyeball gets more liquid than gel and I'm seeing the reflection bouncing from the change in viscosity.  Your brain does make sense of it -- the ghosting is mostly when I close one eye (in fact, most of that ghosting is with the right eye).  The ghosting is also worse in low light, which also makes sense.  Anyway, he checked inside my eyeballs again and there's nothing else going on.

Marda arrives today, assuming all goes well.  There's some nasty weather here and north of us that might cause problems but her flight is later.

Otherwise ... not much.  It is our anniversary and the three of us are going out for dinner :).

Onward !
