Aug 23-28 - The GA

Whew.  Everything went like clockwork -- a working clock that is !

We had great weather; we had no accidents; everyone had a great time ... even the volunteers !  We did have a bunch of DNF's, for a variety of reasons.  Two out of time, some knees and a back hurting; I'd have to go through the list to total it all up but 12 out of 59 on the rider list, which included two DNS's.

That was the good news.

The bad news, received during the ride, was that Juliet, our Nanny from when Jeffrey was young, passed away.  We don't know the details but from the pictures she'd obviously had chemo.  Our hearts are heavy, feeling for Mark and the four kids.  There's a wake in Burlington next Tuesday that we'll attend.

I drove back to the cottage yesterday a.m. pulling an empty trailer - yes, the trailer with the 2013 licence plate on it (forgot to update).  I've got lots of cleanup to do,  mostly financial and making notes so that when we ( I ? ) do this again, we have a good starting point.

We'll be here, mostly, until after Canadian Thanksgiving save the aforementioned wake, a trip to Windsor for me for the annual meeting of Randonneurs Ontario, etc.  I can use the quiet time.

Onward !
