Another cold windy day (heard this before?) so I got a few chores done before going out. With visitors coming it was time to thoroghly wash and vacuum the X5 then help Sandy with some tidying-up work in the house since my den would be used as a bedroom for a few days.
We had heard from Mariadella and Leonas starting early a.m. about their travels from hell. After boarding the airplane and about to pull away from the gate some maintenance crew came on the plane (bad sign) and the upshot was that they could not close the cargo door. They eventually got out but we were not sure when they would be landing in Orlando since they changed planes in Atlanta and were missing that particular flight.
Pam and Steve, on the other hand, were not as delayed, but got into Orlando around 3pm -- waited for M&L until they got in around 4:30, then were at our place around 7 pm. We had convinced them to come in one car, my objective being to reduce the parking issue around our place and to save them money. We plan to take them back to the airport on Tuesday.
I headed out for a ride at 1 pm having no idea when they might get in so planned a shorter ride in case Pam and Steve came in on time and came straight to our place -- which would have put them here around 3pm. The wind was from the northwest at 12-15 mph so I headed north to Daytona. Prior to going out I thoroughly cleaned the drivetrain and changed the tube with a slow leak -- very slow, just the occasional bubble in a bucket of water.
Nutrition -- 1 bottle of water and 1 gel.
Ride stats -- 39.7 miles, 17.4 mph.
