February 21 -- Where did I leave off ?

I followed the same route today, south to the visitors center then back north staying on Merritt Island. It was warmer today, temperature mid 70's, with wind at 7-10 from the WNW.

I did not get away until 11am -- Alex called me just as I was about to leave -- to confirm some computer stuff that I'm ordering for him. I still expected that I had lots of time, since Wayne and Doris were not due to arrive until late afternoon ... not !

As I got close to the causeway coming back -- it's now around 3pm -- I checked my cell phone and saw that I had a voicemail -- it seems that W&D arrived in town in time for lunch ! -- I called Sandy and W&D were out looking at condos -- Doris would like to spend much of the winter south, rather than north. I figured that I had misunderstood, but Wayne told me that no, they had said late afternoon -- so I was off the hook.

We had a good evening over dinner and chatting. Wayne brought a good 2001 CDP. They turned in early (great for me!) because they were planning on leaving early in the morning to get to the North Carolina / Virginia border.

Nutrition -- I did not drink enough because I was down a couple of pounds at the end of the ride -- 3.5 bottles of water; 2 small cliff bars at 25 & 35 miles; 3 gels at 45, 55 & 65 miles. I'm going to have to stop for more liquid somewhere on this route on hot days. I also seem to have a slight cold coming on ...
