Well, a positive change in the weather. It was around 70 at noon when I went out for a planned short ride. The wind was from the west at which means that you never know how it will affect a north-south ride. Well, it was coming from the north on the Canaveral National Seashore park road -- I mentioned before that the road creates a wind tunnel -- well this was the worst kind because it was neutral riding south into the park, since I was on the west side of the road, and then in my face on the way back ... I never got the benefit of the wind at my back.
However, I'm not complaining -- the warm weather makes up for a lot and it was a real treat. Also, since I am training, why complain -- the harder it is the better ... right ?!
I did a minor tune-up today. I thought that my bottom bracket was grinding but it was the chain. I replaced the chain and dismantled the rear deraileur and greased the pedals -- now everything is as smooth as silk. What a treat.
Distance -- 24 miles; Average speed -- 18.3; Wind -- NW at 7-10 mph; Temperature -- 70 F.
Doris Guymon is here today with her son John. They went out with Sandy for lunch and were supposed to be back to join Abby and me for a walk on the beach but it seems that they ended up in Daytona so we are on our own. Abby loves the beach so I guess that I'll take her.
