March 15 -- Kennedy Space Center

Today was a day for touring. I went out for a short ride -- 18 miles -- just to stretch my legs, and then we set out for Kennedy Space Center.

We took my biking route down Merritt Island to see the sights and along the way, before the new radar installation, we stopped at the side of the road and picked oranges from a defunct orange grove. There were old irrigation pipes along the ground so at some point it was a commercial installation that was taken over as part of the park. We have not tasted the oranges yet -- it will be interesting.

Next we stopped at the manatee observation deck -- I did not have high hopes because I thought that it was too early in the season for them -- but there were several manatees, perhaps a dozen in all, feeding by the deck. It looks like they put grass clippings in that area for them and perhaps other things.

We then drove out towards the visitors center but the aligator and carrion birds that I had seen the day before were gone. From there we went to the space center, walked through the exhibits and watched one of the IMAX films. We came back home for a late lunch (3:30) and Jason et al went to the beach.

Our plan is to go out for dinner tonight to the local sushi place.

That's all folks !
