May 5 -- Dodge City KS to Great Bend KS -- update 2

The post from this morning was updated after the ride today, so if you read the a.m. blog without seeing the ride details, see below. That was update 1.

Right now we are under a tornado warning -- the alarms have sounded and we are crowded into a small interior room -- all the hotel guests and the wedding that was going on in their convention room. This will get old quickly. I understand that the hotel went through three of these last evening -- I guess people missed a lot of sleep.

We had dinner at Applebees -- a chain restaurant that I've never tried before. It was quite good, considering. A decent oriental chicken salad -- great ingredients but their oriental dressing tasted like ranch dressing -- well, I guess that's what you get in Kansas !!

There are a couple of us sitting on the floor doing blogs -- my room is too far from the WAP for good reception for wireless internet so have to sit pool-side where they have tables etc. I had just closed up my PC from checking email and was headed back to my room when the fire alarm went off -- in this case the tornado alarm -- and was directed to this place.

The building is concrete block and I'm on the bottom floor of two floors. I would be fulfilling the standard recomendations for safety by sitting in the bathroom of my hotel room -- an interior room.
