It's summer, right ? I think that started sometime today. It's sunny out, a little breeze, chance of thunderstorms ... typical summer day.
I was up early as usual and tackled another project downstairs -- a quiet one since Sandy was still sleeping -- putting up the interior wall between the toilet and the shower. Think about how six 2x4's are necessary in a 40" or so wall -- that's a shower wall. It has to be strong enough to hang a swinging glass door and have the interior support for the pipes, and of course there will be drywall both sides and tile on the inside of the shower. I'm not finished yet -- I'll need a ceiling for the shower as well and probably a ceiling for the bathroom -- the only room downstairs, other than the area at the bottom of the stairs, which will have a drywall ceiling. I got the wall in place and the drywall on the one side -- the other side needs to stay open until the necessary plumbing arrives.
Then ... Sandy was up ... I had an extra sheet of plywood; I needed some more 1.25" screws; she needed to pick up the mail for a prescription that was being sent from Florida ... so she went into town (Port Loring). I had an early lunch and went out for a bike ride, 2.5 hours. 70 degrees, partly cloudy, variable wind ... a great day for a bike ride.
Then, back at the ranch, it was time to finish the floor. All the DRIcore was in place except for a small piece going into the furnace room. Plywood had to be cut, glued and screwed in the games room, the closet under the stairs in the games room and two doorways. I did all that. It's finished. Let me repeat that -- the sub floor is finished -- no more DRIcore, no more plywood -- unless, of course, in some future lifetime I decide to finish the floor in the wine cellar -- let's see if we have tile leftover before even thinking about that.
Guess what -- I have another spare sheet of plywood -- it seems that I was able to use already-cut pieces to fill in some area in the aforementioned closet -- a bonus. I'll deal with the plywood later.
It's time for a boat ride ... a bit breezy out but Abby is eager to go ... so we go !
Now it's 5:30 -- time for a biere froid (cold beer) on the deck. There are no bugs. It's warm. It's sunny. What more could you ask for ?
Now it's time to pick out a wine for dinner and turn on the barbie ... barbie is on, Sandy is still doing some prep so time to update blog.
Tough day at the office ???? -- naawwww. You were waiting for the punch line, but there isn't one. I got much more done than almost any day at the office that I can think of, save when, a long time ago, I actually used to do work -- write programs, update files -- and then the most productive time was early in the a.m. or late at night when there was no one else around.
Life is good.
Time to get to the barbie and that wine.

Um. I believe you are just trying to make others jealous. (Those of us that still work!). Stop that! ;-)
