We're still waiting for the tiles of course -- they are due July 17th in Port Loring. I asked the supplier to see if they could deliver them to our driveway, but I'm not counting on it.
So -- it's time to get other stuff done -- in spite of the lousy weather -- yes, it rained both days. It's handy having the deck over the basement walk-out because I can put a tarp on the deck and have a dry space underneath for the miter saw.
So -- I trimmed the closet doors in the basement bedroom, sanded the drywall mud, primed the drywall, installed baseboard in the closets, sanded the trim, primed the trim, put baseboard in the master bedroom closet (now that the closet organizers are in place the baseboard goes in-between).
Sandy worked on the stair railings -- sanding and wood conditioner (those already installed on the stairs) -- we're still waiting for a date from Udo to finish the stairs themselves.
On Sunday, when checking the Doppler radar first thing it looked clear so I went out for a ride early in the day. The rain held off long enough for me to get to highway 69 and back. The roads were still semi-wet from rain the night before, but oh well.
As usual we ate well -- a seafood risotto on the 14th and marinated chicken breasts on the 15th. Throw in a couple of bottles of Italian wine and some vegetables ... and voila, more great meals.
Jason and Lorraine slept at our place both days since they have a crowd of kids at theirs. I woke up after 2am on Saturday night (Sunday morning) and could hear the kids still partying at the firepit and had a fleeting thought, before I went back to sleep, that if they don't go to bed soon I'll be up. Of course I refer to them as kids, but they are all in their 20's, other than Kim, Jason's youngest. Mike and one of the kids left last night after dinner; Gavin, Kyle and others will leave today; Jason, Lorraine & Kim will leave tomorrow (Tuesday) and then be back up on Friday.
This morning I was down in the bedroom priming the drywall and when I came upstairs they had already left. I don't have any fixed plans for what I want to get done today but something will materialize. I'll do a walk-around and continue to get as much done as possible before getting back into tiling, hopefully tomorrow.
Sandy and Kylie left for Sudbury a little while ago. Sandy has a bunch of errands on her list, including picking up some mortar; grocery shopping; Home Depot; -- she always makes a circuit of Sudbury.
Being the first weeks of July, the Tour de France is underway and that means that I'm grabbing the occasional time to catch some of the race. The Canadian channel carrying the live action is still called OLN; the U.S. version is called Versus. Versus covers other cycle races but OLN only carries the TdF.
That's it for now ...
