July 31 -- misc stuff

Early today I continued with basement cleanup:

-- fastening the cut and painted baseboard in the bedroom,
-- taking all the plywood up to the barn (used to work on / walk on during tiling)
-- moving the fridge out of the games room
-- general cleanup of the games room, making space for guests later in the week (it may be used as a sleeping room)

In addition:

-- cleaned up misc stuff on the waterfront
-- rebuilt the boat ramp which had broken last year
-- launched the small boat with the 9.9 and took it out for a spin (David likes to use this boat for fishing so I got it ready). It started 3rd pull and seemed to run well. Jason has some carburetor cleaner that I'll give it a dose of along with some of the watersorb in the gas tank because no doubt there has been condensation buildup.

Sandy went into town with Kylie and Lauren -- to Trash & Treasures, the General Store, Timbr Mart ... and then left for Toronto via Orillia around 1:30. She went to an antique shop in Orillia looking for dressers; stopped in Home Depot in Barrie to pick up some door knobs ... for doors that are supposed to arrive on Friday ... and then headed to Joyce's for the evening. She will leave Joyce's before 6am tomorrow to pick up David & Kim and then go to the St. Lawrence Market for breakfast and food shopping before heading back up here. She should get back here mid/late afternoon. She will be tired ...

Stef, Aaron, Kylie & Lauren had a good time playing in the water in the cove -- it was hot, sunny and the water is warm. The kayaks are getting good use too -- Stef was towing Lauren.

I took Kylie and Lauren out for a boat ride. Lauren wanted to help me drive so at slow speed she sat on my lap and steered. She couldn't get the idea though that after turning the wheel the way you want to go you then have to turn it the other way to stop going in circles ... we went in circles for a long time ... waving to Stef and Aaron who were in kayaks every time we made the circle.

Kylie prepared dinner -- her Greek pasta salad specialty -- a real treat. Lauren got to sit in Sandy's seat beside me, so she was happy.

Jason and the boys (less Mike, he's not here) are doing major renovations next door -- removing / building walls, prepping for the construction of a new three piece bathroom. I went over to kibitz at one point and they were wiring, screwing another layer of plywood on the floor of that room (it's going to be tiled ... yes, Ditra etc.), etc. He has revised plans a few times regarding how this is going to be finished -- location of doors etc. -- but it is now coming together.

It started raining before dinner but the sun is back out now -- a late day thundershower without the thunder.

Cheers !
