Aug 20 - dehydrated

Yes, that's me. I went out for a bike ride this morning -- only 50 miles -- drank 2 water bottles on the road and another once back -- THEN I re-weighed myself -- and I was still down 3 pounds. It was 82 when I left at 7:30 a.m. and 87 when I returned at 10:30 -- exhausted but that was due to dehydration. I plan to go out again tomorrow a.m. but I'll drink more before leaving ... tonight and tomorrow a.m. -- "stock up" so to speak.

Anyway, we then got organized to go out in the boat, leaving a little after noon. Sandy packed sandwiches and drinks in the little cooler. Kylie still was not feeling well so she opted not to go. She was still not eating and drinking only water, so I cautioned her about electrolytes etc. which she took to heart and started nibbling.

While we were out -- only about 1 hour -- she got a crank call on the land line. That is not a number that we give out (and I don't even know that number without looking it up) but it un-nerved her. She called my cell phone -- we probably did not hear it the first time -- and she called Stef. Apparently Sandy had gotten one of these crank calls yesterday -- today's was someone who told Kylie that he was Donald Trump. I suspect that it is simply kids left in hotel rooms by their parents. We used to play games when we were kids too -- silly calls not to scare or annoy, just for jokes. Perhaps I should simply disconnect the ringer on that phone ...

Sandy talked to Kylie and reassured her that it was just someone playing games and that she should not answer that phone should it ring again -- Kylie seemed ok -- so we spent about 10 minutes at the sand bar (we had just arrived) and then headed back.

Heading back, however, is a slow process. The entire area is a no-wake zone so we putt along at a couple of miles per hour. It takes the better part of an hour to go that couple of miles from Ponce Inlet to the boat launch. Once back we loaded up and went back home, which is about 3 miles away from where we launch the boat.

Kylie was fine when we got back -- jealous because Lauren had seen a dolphin -- and the three of them are at the beach as I write this. Kylie must be feeling a lot better because she had no interest in going out in the sun earlier. Eating a little would have helped too.

Re the Bayliner -- I put the top on the Bayliner because it's good to have some shelter. I could get a bimini top for the boat but we'll try it for a while like this. Once home I gave it a thorough wash down with the pressure washer, inside and out. I would like something bigger for the long haul down here but it will be great this winter.

Dinner ? ... don't know yet. Sandy is going to pick up something once she is back form the beach.

I expect that tomorrow will be a repeat of today -- bike ride then boat ride. Wednesday, however, will be different -- we intend to go to Disney World. We'll see how Kylie is feeling -- we will not go without her.
