It occurred to me that this was probably the first time that I'd gone for a ride two days in a row since the ride around Lake Superior. It felt good. For the second time this trip we had a wind from the south ... well, sort of, so I rode to Merritt Island, turning around at 35 miles close to the Playalinda Beach park entrance. Playalinda Beach is the southern beach on Canaveral National Seashore. I didn't have time to go to the visitors' center and across the causeway -- the extra 10 miles would have put me home after dark. Without lights that's a no-no.
As I said, the wind was sort-of from the south. It was actually from the ESE ... it would have been a great day to simply ride east except for the Atlantic Ocean in the way.
I spent some time on the phone trying to sort out a problem that Carol was having with Incredimail. Not wanting to install it myself ... and not having Vista on any machine, it was trial and error through the Vista Control Panel trying to see why Incredimail would not connect to the outgoing server. The XP Control Panel that I was looking at is slightly different, for no good reason. Incredimail would read mail fine but not send. She is running the Windows Live Mail version of Sympatico webmail, not using the normal pop & smtp servers. Long story short, we had no luck. She can receive and read mail but to reply or send mail she has to go to webmail. Trying to access the Sympatico help system was producing the same results -- not accessible. I'm starting to think that their setup is blocking any IP Addresses other than those originating in Canada to defeat Spammers. I'll be able to test this theory next week when we're in Canada ... it that turns out to be the case then her only option is to uninstall incredimail. Of course, I'm not sure why she installed it in the first place ... must be great advertising. It's interesting -- the normal pop and smtp servers are a series of pop1-pop8 and smtp1-smtp8 servers. The servers for this are pophm and smtphm (hotmail) so it's some sort of hybrid between pop3 and http.
Of course, and I have to admit it, I called Carol too early. I figured that by 8:40 she'd be up ... forgetting that Panama City is one hour behind ... duh. She'll have to get up really early to get me back on that one or wait until we're on the west coast ! What Sheryl told Carol is correct -- I enjoy these challenges !
We had Wahoo for dinner. I have another admission -- I cooked it too long. It wasn't overcooked, per se, but it has something of the consistency of tuna and while probably not best served seared, it gets dry when fully cooked. It was tasty ... we'll have to try that one again. The other problem was that the piece was somewhat wedge-shaped, fully two inches thick at the one end of the wedge, so I was caught between the sharp end and the fat end, between a rock and a hard place, between ... well you get the idea.
We watched two more videos.
Jul-Aug 92
-- July 19 -- ducks, practicing flapping their wings
-- Jeffrey & Vicki with the ducks
-- Jeffrey on ski tube then waterskiing
-- July 26 - ducks flying
-- Jeffrey trying to drop a ski
-- July 31 -- all ducks flying
-- in Port Credit -- Jeffrey, Nathan, Vicki in the pool
-- Jeffrey scuba diving in the pool
-- Aug 4 -- in England with Marjorie & Harry, Allan & Christine, Hellen (& husband?), Aunt Joan

-- sightseeing with Harry and Marjorie
-- Auntie Aggie !! at convent in Hereford with Mom, Dad & Aunt Joan
Feb-Aug 90
-- aircraft carrier tour
-- back in Village Park -- Jack Robinson, Dolores
-- Nancy, JJ and other kids, Ron ? (Sue take note !)
-- in Port Credit -- Jeffrey & Mom playing pool
-- Mrs. Miniver, our cat
-- Pool being redone -- shots from May 8 and onwards -- Dad must have added some shots out of order, then entire backyard redone
-- Meghan & Olivia at cottage
-- Arlene + all of us at cottage May 90
-- Joan, Tracy, Rog @ Esso station on 69 -- this must have been a chance encounter

-- Back at the cottage -- Philip & kids, Willie & Flory, Jack & Dolores, Jeffrey & Nathan
-- Jason's kids in the cove
-- Jeffrey on ski tube, then Sandy and I scuba diving, then Sandy on ski tube -- I had completely forgotten that she'd ever tried the ski tube
-- Arlene, Stef at cottage after a shot of Resthaven Cemetary in Toronto -- Grandma passed away early August while Sandy, Jeffrey, Nathan and I were in Florida. I guess that Arlene flew east and Stef went up to the cottage with Mom & Dad.
-- a shot of Harry & Marjorie too -- not sure of the timing of this
These were long videos to watch because there was very little fast-forwarding ! The shot of Ron's family is good, and it might be him sitting in the background but it's more than a cameo this time with the kids playing and talking.
Onward -- today we're going boating. The boat is hooked to the car and I'm waiting for Sandy to get geared-up, so to speak. The prediction is still for 79F so it should be fun. Tomorrow's prediction is still over 80F so I'm planning on a longer ride. Time will tell ...
That's it ...
