I worked most of the day yesterday boxing in the furnace ductwork as well as other finishing touches on the two rooms downstairs:
-- row of 3" tiles at the window-end of the games room;
-- supporting an electrical box so that the smoke detector comes through a tile outside of the bedroom
-- cutting and fitting other outside edge pieces
-- boxing in ductwork.
I had originally planned on boxing in the ductwork with wood and then drywall over that but started and got hooked on boxing in with T's, crossers etc. suspended ceiling. I'm not sure if I'm pleased with the result. I also have one spot to finish where the ductwork meets the beam at the bottom of the stairs. I'm still figuring out how best to finish that small triangle. I'm thinking, now, that the rest of the beam boxing-in might be done with the 3/4" tongue-and-groove that makes up the floor. That is the finish on the exposed back of the stairs to the basement and it might then match nicely ... although the boxed-in beam would be painted white like the ceiling so as not to stand out. Advantage ? I already have the material (I think, have to check in the barn).
I really didn't do much else. The work downstairs is really fiddly ... I was tempted to leave it and start the bedroom, but that just delays the inevitable. The bedroom has no such finishing touches required and will be much quicker. Of course I have a few minutes worth of wiring to complete since there are no lights in the closet yet ... but that won't take very long.
Sandy spent most of the day trying to catch up on her Macleans reading. It rained on and off all day and is doing so now ... and that's the extent of the 5-day prediction. I may finally end up riding in the rain on Saturday ... oh joy ... just what I've been waiting for.
We had halibut, asparagus and brown rice for dinner ... and being really windy again I didn't head out to fish. It wasn't raining at the time so I'd have been ok on that score, but the waves were really rolling and I didn't fancy battling my way through, looking for a calm spot to fish.
Enough ....
