Action doesn't mean completion ...
I finally did something about that fallen ironwood tree by the fence between our property and Jason's -- cut it up for firewood and got rid of the brush. If I'd left it just a little longer -- Christmas -- it would have been a year. We retirees are too busy for unexpected projects !
... and, I started working on pictures -- copying them from photo cards to pic; converting NEF's to JPG's, renumbering, updating the website locally and then updating online. It takes time -- especially the online part because our upload speed is sooooo sloooowwwww.
-------
More stuff -- the pictures are ready to upload. There are some good ones of the family etc. I've set it up for a 3am upload so unless that craps out they should be there before I post this blog.
I swapped saddles too ... had a snooze ... watched an episode of Stargate Atlantis ... coughed, sneezed and generally spread germs around. It's too bad that Stef et al are here, I hate to share something like this but it appeared after they arrived. I never felt peppy enough to go for a bike ride or inclined to take the kids for a boat ride. Sandy took Kylie and Lauren into the pottery store though, keeping them occupied on a not-so-nice day. They are calling for rain the next two days and then sunny for the rest of the week, so I may not get out biking until Monday. I'll check the doppler and may get out for a short ride sometime on the weekend.
-------
Up early this morning, I couldn't sleep, although I did sleep better last night than the prior two nights.
Aaron was back late afternoon and we ate dinner around 7pm. We had fish -- bass, crappie & catfish. Excellent as always, with mashed sweet potatoes and broccoli, there were no leftovers. Aaron and Stef did their organizing and cleanup last night because they have to leave early today to get Lauren to a kids party at 12:30 today.
I'm in the basement watching TV right now and typing this blog ... doesn't disturb anyone else and it's cooler. It's raining outside, as predicted, I expect that it will be a quiet day. I'll have to head upstairs soon because Abby will come looking for me for breakfast, disturbing Mya -- I'll have to feed her too -- and I'll want coffee at the same time. The day will be underway, at least for me.
------
Ok, dogs have been fed, coffee beans ground, dishwasher unpacked, coffee made ... and uploads checked ... yes, all the pictures have been uploaded to "recent" and a new family picture posted on the front page of the family website www.wdthompson.com
For my morning injection of world news I go to cnn.com and the online version of the Toronto Star. At times it would also be nice to turn on the TV. One of the design elements that we might have considered when we built this house was not putting the den adjacent to the master bedroom. Perhaps we should not have a TV in the den ? When I watch TV in the basement -- like right now -- I use my laptop. Without the computer handy I quickly get bored with the number and length of commercials on broadcast TV.
That's it ...
