Sep 20 - cooling off

Yes, it's cooling off. It was 79F this morning. A cold snap !

It rained late yesterday, on and off. The dense cloud cover caused satellite reception but hey, SG1 on DVD was not a problem. Tuna, rice and peas made an easy meal. We're not longing for crappie yet, but soon.

I finally succumbed to temptation and started work on the master bath door. I cut out drywall on both sides and removed a 2x4. I'll continue work today, getting it re-framed and possibly get the new door hung, depending on how quickly it goes. While yesterday's work was messy cutting drywall with a knife, today's will be messier as I get out the reciprocating saw to hack away at the 2x4 still in the way and to cut any nails in the 2x4 across the top. After that I'll start the part of the job that I like -- building -- rather than tearing down. There will be drywall patching to do as well, hopefully not too much, and then paint touch-up.

I heard from Jason and got a picture via email -- their new steel garage is up with the one end-wall in place. The picture showed his boat nicely ensconced in the garage. He's been busy while we're away -- the garage on one hand and some new furniture on the other. He gave my box trailer a run to pickup the furniture.

This morning I have a dermatologist appointment in Ormond Beach -- just a checkup. Sandy says that I'll have to strip down and be inspected from my scalp to between my toes by a drop-dead gorgeous nurse practitioner ... apparently the Dr. only comes in if there is something to look at, of a skin problem that is ! That's one thing that will be off my list (dermatologist checkup) and next I have to have a regular checkup, blood tests etc. First I have to find a doctor. After that, it's time for a colonoscopy ... boy, doesn't this sound like fun ?

It's been many years since I've had a complete physical -- 7 or 8 ? The first and only colonoscopy was in early 2006, memorable because we came down from the new cottage build to Radnor PA, stayed in our house -- Jeffrey had already moved out. I think that was the weekend during which I helped him move his bed with my little build-it-yourself trailer. Because they removed one or more thingy's during that session they recommended another go in 3 years or so. Well, early 2010 would be "or so". Sandy and I did our colonoscopies back-to-back. We both drank the same yuckie stuff, luckily we had two bathrooms in the house, went to the hospital -- she went first. We'd arranged for pickup by Mariadella but by the time I came to, Sandy was feeling less woozy from the anesthetic and we were able to drive ourselves home. Our house was 1.5 miles away from the hospital.

After my appointment today I expect to visit Bluewater Boats again with the results of my research on the 2006 Hydra Sports. If they don't budge on the price, or don't budge enough, I'll be chasing down the other alternatives, which are really used ones (as opposed to never having been sold) located in SC and NC. If one of those turns out to be a viable option I may be making a quick trip north and south.

I hear rumbling outside. It looks like we might be in for some more of those scattered thunderstorms that this time are being scattered our way.

That's it for now ...
