Oct 10 - good progress

Sandy slept quite well last night, able to sleep in positions ... you know what I mean ... that she hasn't been able to use in a while. She only got up twice and mostly slept the night through. Great ! It's 4:40 p.m. right now and she's having a rest.

Sleep position is quite important to me too. When I had a broken ankle the worst part was not being able to sleep on my stomach when I had the cast up to my hip for the first six weeks. When the cast was switched for one that started below the knee I could finally sleep on my stomach and hook my feet over the bottom of the bed -- my preferred position for getting to sleep.

Today's ride was probably the hottest that I've experienced this trip. Heading south was perfect from a wind standpoint, but the trouble is that I'm completely exposed to the sun for the entire ride. I was wiped by the time I got back. I'd have been better off doing the extra few miles and stopping at the Visitor's Center to replenish my water bottles. As it was, in that heat, stretching my two bottles for 70 miles wasn't the greatest idea. However, I've done this enough times that I know I can make it back.

This is a complete change of topic, but I'm not sure that I ever noted the overall length of car + boat when I'm towing the new boat. The car is slightly over 15 feet and the boat on trailer is just over 30 feet. 45 feet is like George's rig, only without the Range Rover at the back !

Speaking of boat -- we're planning on going out tomorrow after I get back from Mass. Tomorrow's boat ride will probably be the last this trip, unless we also go out on Monday. Tuesday we're off to Orlando, or at least Sandy is, to get that stent removed. Unless something goes wrong, we'll leave Wednesday a.m.

------

It's morning. Back to the boat -- it will probably only be me and Abby on the boat today. Sandy's still feeling a bit off and wouldn't enjoy the ride or the sun. We'll see how she feels when I get back from Mass.

After SG1 We had tuna, mashed sweet potatoes and green beans for dinner. In a few days time, hopefully, we'll be out of tuna territory and into crappie territory. I'm not sure that I'm ready to be out there fishing in freezing or near-freezing weather though. I shouldn't have complained about the heat !

I ran over to West Marine and K-Mart yesterday, picking up another couple of life jackets, another boat bumper and 75' of 3/16" braided nylon rope. The rope is for tying the boat cover down. I would have preferred 1/4" but that's what they had. It will be strong enough. I'll likely put that on tomorrow -- Monday -- whether or not we go out for a ride.

Pick an island, any island ...

Stop and enjoy ...

Put the boat away at the end of the day ... (from this point it gets moved to a work rack where I flush the motor, wash down the boat and take down the bimini)

... and of course we entertain our guests too !
