Oct 14 - the almost-halfway point

We left at 7am and made it to Beckley at 6pm. That was the good news. It rained all day and Sandy had a tough ride. That was the bad news. It left me wondering whether I should have made this trip by myself in a week's time ... but we're here. I said to her as we were reaching Beckley last night :="you know it's a shorter ride back than forward ..." but she didn't want to go back.

It was drizzly and cold when we got here. I froze taking Abby for a walk, not used to 40F. We drove across the street to The Outback Steakhouse. After dinner we both felt better. Food and warmth have a way of helping your mood. We sat at the bar, avoiding the queue for the booths and enjoyed watching the bartenders -- they are entertainment all by themselves and they scurry around trying to keep up with orders.

We're eating breakfast now and then we hit the road.

Onward.
