Cross Training ... sounds better than shoveling gravel, right ? Anyway, that and moving the dock to its winter resting place were my major activities of the day. That doesn't account for much of the day though ... it was a quiet one. Abby and I did go fishing first thing, which was a fruitless exercise. I tied down the tarp around the gazebo a little more, but have still more to do -- I have to pickup some screw eyes to finish the job.
Moving the dock into place required putting on my boots and levering the dock across the sand. The lake level is really low ... hopefully it will be higher when I have to move it back in the spring !
Donnie was still here first thing yesterday but he and his friends left at some point. I wandered across the properties late yesterday just to get some fresh air and they were all closed up.
What else ? I really cannot think of anything. It was a messy day, starting to rain shortly after I finished building up the berm at the driveway. The wind picked up and the rain increased, never pouring but always blowing and wet. It's still doing the same.
I'm typing this into Notepad right now, since I don't have internet access. Signal strength comes and goes with the heavy cloud cover. A huge cloud of blue and green shows up on the Doppler when I do get connected.

Internet access is back. I've copied the above from Notepad into Blogger.
I exchanged emails with Arlene yesterday and she told me that I forgot to write in my blog that we ensured that we'd be out of Florida by the time that she got there. I told her that I'd mention it in a later blog or an addendum -- so here it is. I got an email from Angelika saying that she was glad that I continued to blog so that she could read my "drivel" with her coffee.
With encouragement like this ... I don't know what to say. Perhaps I'll start a new blog and not publish the address ? only publish the address to "appreciative" friends and family ? Ha ... the very fact that they all continue to read my musings, yammering ... and yes, drivel, makes me want to write more. If no-one read it would I continue to talk to myself in these writings ? That's an interesting question. Every once in a while I get a comment from an acquaintance about something in my blog (like a writeup on a Brevet ride) or some person who has run across my blog by searching with Google or the like. Yes, I'd probably continue to write. It's a good mental exercise ... good cross training !
Jason et al will be coming up tomorrow evening -- all but Kim, according to Jason. I'll turn on their heaters tomorrow so that they come up to a warmER house -- cannot promise warmth. It would be cold and damp otherwise, which is no fun. The outside temperature seems to be falling at the moment with the day's predicted high of 39F not much more than the current temperature. We're supposed to get a frost tonight, down to 27F.
That's it ... typical late fall stuff.
