Oct 27 - and a good time was had by all

It was a busy day with a great ending. We left the cottage at 8:30 on the dot ... as planned. We got to Stef's at 12:15, unloaded the car, dropped off Abby, used bathroom ... and headed to the eye doctor. On the way we stopped for a sub, getting to the doctor right at 1pm.

Sandy was getting checked for itchy/scratchy eyes -- no real problem, ended up with some drops. I was getting a complete checkup and verifying my prescription. Everything was ok with a minor prescription change. I ordered new "regular" glasses and also glasses that I can use while biking. At last I'm going to be able to read the cue sheets ! I expect that both pairs the will be ready for our trip south on November 9th.

At last the spots before my eyes will disappear. There are scratches on my current glasses in my field of view and a chip off the side out of view. I've had these for three years; didn't order glasses the last time around since the prescription had only changed a little.

After the eye doctor we headed back to Stef's, stopping at Great Clips along the way. Since there was an hour wait I took a pass on getting my hair cut. I'll go by there again this morning; don't know what time they open, but hopefully soon enough that I can do my thing. If not I can go in over the next two days.

Also this morning -- shortly -- I'll go to Home Depot to pickup stuff for tiling at Stef's. Once Sandy is up and we're organized, it's off to Stratford we go. It will take almost 2 hours to get there -- we have a show at 2pm and 8pm -- staying at a B&B tonight and then back to Stef's tomorrow morning.

Jersey Boys was great last night. Good acting and good singing, great music. There was not as much audience participation as at "We Will Rock You" in London, but very good nonetheless.

We also had tickets for the 3 course dinner before the show. They've walled off a small section of the place setting it up as a restaurant. It's catered -- no cooking onsite -- although they must have facilities for warming -- like eating first class on an airplane. Yes, I remember the days. The food was very good, the only negative being bread that wasn't quite as fresh as it might have been. The dinner was also cheaper than any alternatives in the area -- so the price was right, the food was good and the location was excellent !

We parked across the street in a public lot. There's a cross walk -- a Toronto X walk -- a feature of Toronto that is very pedestrian kind. There are big X's over the street and you push a button that makes the lights flash. They've been a feature of Toronto forever but in the "olden days" you simply pointed and the cars stopped. Now the lights flash. Cars must stop immediately. We were half-way across and a car crossed ahead of us. We paused in the street while the following police car turned on its flashers and went after them. It's an expensive ticket -- I just tried googling but cannot find the amount of the fine. All I get is companies advertising that they help you fight tickets.

Anyway ... that's enough for now ... Onward.
