Well, we're still here with no scheduled date to leave at this point.
The good news is that Sandy's problem isn't her back. The bad news is that she has a kidney stone. The good news is that it's not something more serious. The bad news is that we don't know how long it will take to work its way through. The good news is that it will, in time.
I'll stop now ...
I did some organizing around our impending trip getting some stuff packed and organized. Since Sandy still wasn't sure what she wanted / was able to do, I wanted to be ready if she called from Orlando wanting to leave tomorrow. I was prepared.
She headed to Orlando and a little while later I called NCM and asked them to put the boat in the water. I brought along the cover, intending to put it on should the news be that we were leaving. On our putt putt way to the inlet I talked to Sandy on the cell phone -- she had finished her doctor's appointment and was immediately having a CT Scan. This being the U.S. she didn't have to wait for a month or so ... in fact they wanted her to stick around so that she'd have the results same day. Such service ... usually you only get that kind of turn-around at a vet !
We -- Abby and I -- got to the inlet and headed out to the ocean. Abby wasn't interested in the ocean. She wanted to go to the island. However, since I was driving, I made the rules. It was fairly calm but I didn't see any whales, dolphins, turtles, swimming elephants ... and I just cruised out a couple of miles looking back at the inlet and NSB and Daytona Beach in the distance. I'd have to go many many more miles before they'd disappear from the horizon ... perhaps some day.
Back we went to the inlet and over to the island. The tide was fairly high so there was less island, but it was big enough for Abby to run and chase minnows. With only one other boat on the island, it was a quiet day.
One of the reasons that it was quiet was that there were thunderstorms in the area. I could see an "event" heading for the area south of us as we left for home. In no hurry to get wet, we diddled along the ICW at idle speed. A rain storm passed south of us while we stayed dry. Before we got to NCM I got a call from Sandy saying "don't put the cover on the boat" ... because she needed to deal with a kidney stone. She came back with all sorts of prescriptions and an appointment to see a urologist on Thursday. Will we leave Friday ? Will we leave sometime next week ? Time will tell.
We just got back from Shiki on the Beach -- our sushi restaurant. We'd intended to eat there this evening since tomorrow was our scheduled travel day -- instead it simply became a birthday dinner. Either way it was excellent.
My current plan for tomorrow is to go for a bike ride. Assuming that there are no thunderstorms in evidence (we did get rained on before dinner) I'll head out early and be back by noon. Sandy is in no shape to go for a boat ride tomorrow (Wednesday) nor will she be able to on Thursday since she'll be leaving for Orlando. I may end up covering the boat without another ride ... we'll see. It's pretty simple to call them and have them put the boat on a work rack so that I can cover it -- more likely I'll go out with Abby on Thursday ... perhaps it's time to try my hand at fishing.
I'll finish this up in the morning.
------
Nothing on the Doppler; predicted high of 92F; wind starting out at WSW shifting to WNW later in the morning ... guess that I'll go biking. If that wind prediction holds true then I'll have the wind with me both ways. Somehow it never works out that way.
I really don't have anything more to add, but then I've just started my coffee and perhaps it would have loosened my fingers.
