Yes, I resisted temptation. I went for a quiet, energy expending bike ride, rather than a noisy, pollution generating bike ride. I left shortly after the dense fog lifted and basically rode in the sun all day. As I headed north I could see that fog shrouding Daytona Beach beachside, but I was on the mainland. By the time I turned around and headed over to the barrier island the fog had lifted and I rode southwards in the sun.
I'd been looking on maps.google.com and decided to continue beachside instead of crossing over at Ormond Beach. The first part south of my normal cross back to the mainland was fascinating. It's a one-way street southbound, speed limit 15 mph, a narrow laneway. That goes on for a mile or two and then it's a fairly broad avenue, but without heavy traffic, all the way to Port Orange. I crossed over and then continued south turning at the street -- Riverside I think -- by Aunt Catfish's until I ran out of street and was back on US 1. As I got to New Smyrna Beach I realized that I'd be seeing more of the fog ... and sure enough, it had settled on beachside here.
Sandy said that it was foggy all day messing up her plans to dry clothes on the clothesline. It's still foggy at 7:45 a.m. ... so foggy that the roof is dripping ... hopefully that will clear up later. I have some errands to run and plan to do so on the Harley. I'm also planning on going over to North Causeway Marine and putting the cover on the boat. We'll be gone for a month and it might as well be covered. Unless it's too dificult, I'm planning on bringing the batteries home and putting them on a Battery Minder while we're away. Purportedly boat batteries only last a year here -- deep discharges from the heat -- but I'm going to try and do better than that. I have another Battery Minder being delivered today ... although I can daisy chain the batteries, wiring them in parallel. Boat, Motorcycle, Car ... batteries 'r us.
Sandy has her Ormond Beach facial appointment at 9am and will do a couple of things on the way home -- pick up some shoes that she ordered and stop at the BMW dealer to get that engine cover replaced. I'll call the BMW SA (Service Advisor) after she leaves just to ensure that he realizes that she'll be in later.
We're still waiting for finishing work from Vic -- the bathroom is done but part of the job was replacing two drawers in the kitchen. There's no problem with the existing ones, other than Sandy changed her mind on the setup. Rather than three equally-sized drawers, she wants the top one to stay as it is and the bottom two changed to be a deep drawer and a shallow drawer. Her bottles of olive oil etc. won't stand up in the drawer. Life is tough :). I called Vic yesterday to say that I owed him money ... what more can I do ? I also owe the glass guy some money for the bathroom, but we're waiting on the inside-the-shower bar there. I am going to drop over to his place today and pay him.
When we get back in January I have finishing work to do too -- painting the master bath and nailing the baseboard. I'll bring the finish nailer down with me, could do that by hand but in actual fact it will be easier to paint the walls and then nail the baseboard. That's one less place that I have to cut with a paintbrush.
Today we have to pack because we hit the road early tomorrow. Most stuff is organized; there are a few more things to wrap for present-giving at Stef's on Thursday.
That's it ... I think that the fog outside has invaded my brain.
Onward !
