Dec 16 - miles a go go

A Beckley we will go, a Beckley we will go, hi ho the derry oh, a Beckley we will go ... what, that doesn't work ? Oh well.

We made it to Beckley WV around 5pm, having left NSB at 6:40 a.m. It was a good day driving, partly cloudy, great views in the VA and WV mountains -- however, the next mountains that we hit will be REAL mountains ... but I'm getting ahead of myself.

There's not much that can be reported from a day of driving, in good conditions, on a road that we've travelled many times before. In fact, that's pretty much it.

We just got back from Ruby Tuesday, having soup and salad. Usually we walk to the Outback but this time we drove to RT. Such momentous decisions !

I did some catch-up today, making use of my cell phone, talking briefly to George who had a little earlier in the day left Phoenix heading south then east; Arlene and Bill Nelson. I do have some unfortunate news from Bill though -- his Dad passed away a couple of weeks ago. I just called Alex to let him know, since he knew Bill's Dad fairly well.

... and that's about it. Tomorrow we drive to Oakville and stay overnight with Stef. Our plan is to give Christmas gifts at that point, since we won't be back until much later in January.

... ooohhh ... just watching the weather network and they're predicting lake effect snow to the tune of 1" per hour in the Buffalo area. Sue -- tell them to hold that off until we go by, will you ?
