Nov 30 - on the water again

Ho hum. On the water again.

We went south this time, packing a lunch and making our way down to the Haulover Canal area and then to one of the little islands off Titusville to let Abby off. I got off with Abby so that she could romp around a little, but the island is small and her exercise was mostly just the swimming to/from the boat. Neither Sandy nor Angelika got off at that point, since I anchored in waist deep water and said water was 65F.

It took a lot longer to go south than north because the tide was against us. The putt-putt area took 50 minutes going south and 35 minutes going north -- the GPS told the tale since our speed went from around 6mph to 9mph.

Dolphins were everywhere. We've never seen so many dolphins. There was never a time when there weren't some beside or behind us as well as ahead of us. For a memorable few minutes a pair of dolphins actually played in our wake, cresting right beside the boat. Angelika was sitting in the back seat and they were almost within arm's length. That was amazing !

We headed out at 11:30, after gassing up and getting another gallon of 2-cycle oil. We were back just after 4pm. It took just over 1/2 hour to rinse the boat and motor, running the motor with the cuffs for a few minutes and then flushing with the connection. The motor has just over 40 hours on it now. At 50 hours it's due for the second (10 hours was the first) maintenance service to keep up the warranty. I'll let North Causeway Marine do that check.

Once home and checking voicemail messages we found that Luke had called twice to come over and do the plumbing. I called him and arranged for him to come today at 4pm. The Harley Davidson dealer had also called to say that my parts were in, so rather than go for a short ride I went there and picked up the balance of the parts required to carry a passenger. Before dinner I installed the passenger pegs and now have the pillion (seat) and sissy bar (back rest) along with associated hardware to install. The stuff is heavy -- no wonder it's expensive. I will probably have added 25 pounds of stuff once this is all in place. Heavy duty steel and chrome rules the day with the Harley parts.

We had shrimp for dinner, excellent as usual.

Today I have to take the car X5 in for service and am planning on biking from there. Sandy and Angelika are going to try out the Segways in town. I hope to be back in time to see that !

Onward !
