Aug 5 - missions accomplished

The front of the cottage is ... finished. The Roads Board annual meeting for 2011 is ... finished.

Sandy worked at the staining while I went into town. The meeting was sparsely attended, with only 10 residents in attendance including the three trustees. I put that down to either a) we're doing a great job and no-one needs to attend to complain or b) the weather is so great that so-one wanted to take a day and go to one of these boring meetings. There was very little discussion around the five year plan that I'd put together and we trustees were nominated and are standing for another year. In fact, one resident made a motion that we stay in place for five years, which was rejected by the MTO.

When I got back, Sandy was pretty much through the work on the front other than the small section at the side of the great room. The sun was already on that, however, so she had to wait until after 4pm and it was in the shade before she could attack that part.

I setup to work on the side facing Jason's and waited until it too was getting shade albeit dappled being blocked by a big maple tree. It's not a fun area to work but I tied the ladder from both sides for stability and started working the peak. It's unclear how I'm going to get at the small sections above either side of the shed dormer, but with some help from Sandy, perhaps the ladder will reach. That will come another day.

Jason went into Sudbury and picked up his now-repaired Ford Focus, injured when Gavin hit the deer. He didn't get back until after 5pm and immediately started doing some work on his place. Later, after I'd quit, I went over and watched/chatted/drank-a-beer while he worked. Coming back home, Sandy and Lorraine were sitting on the deck so I joined them. Jason came over later ... and then we had dinner ... we didn't finish dinner until almost 10pm -- perhaps setting a new record ?

Today -- I'm about to do some more work on the side, then go for a bike ride, then Mass in town at 4:30. The day is going to fly.

Onward !
