There is an exercise room here, but I didn't bring anything. Perhaps I should just punch some walls ? No, that would hurt too much, but perhaps might make me forget where I am, why I'm here, for a moment ? It's funny how not doing anything physical can leave you feeling so worn out.
It was another quiet day, if you don't count Super Mario, or whatever he's called, packaged with the Wii. Jeffrey, David, Chase and sometimes Emma gave it a lot of exercise. Sandy and I went over to Giant and ordered some snack trays for after today's memorial service. Sara has already placed an order with Chick-Fil-A for more hearty food. Susan, Sara's Mom, cleaned and organized, but it's a never-ending battle with so many people around.
Susan, Liz and Sara organized a whole bunch of clothes to go to a consignment sale. When I say "whole bunch", that doesn't do justice to the mountain of clothes that left the house. Melissa, Frank and one of their children, Joshua, were in and out during the afternoon.
Stef and Aaron came over to the house until noon, then headed out to do some shopping and have dinner with friends. They were back around 8pm. I found a maintenance item, cutting a pressure-treated board to provide a base for the barbecue that's sinking into the mud and replacing two screws that are the pivots for the top. I picked up some beer for today; Sandy has already picked up wine. We really have no idea how many people will be there.
We sat around inside, outside, chatted, relaxed, took comfort and strength from one another. Emma went to school, taking her butterflies for show and tell. They've raised them from caterpillars -- quite neat actually.
The service is at 1pm and then we go back to the house. David is going to leave, at least that was the most recent plan, late afternoon. Stef and we will leave in the a.m., although they were talking about potentially putting in some miles tonight.
We'll go over to the house this morning and then come back here to change.
I've been staring at my PC, putting together some words to say today, may or may not do anything.
Onward.
