All good things must come to an end eventually. That was certainly the case with the brief respite from the rain ... the sun came out and the sun went away and the rain came back.
In that interlude, Sandy spent some quality time with the clothesline, drying some sheets -- they never go in the dryer. I moved down some firewood, mostly packed the car, changed the bottom end oil in the Whaler, brought in that battery, put away the remaining kayak, etc. etc. checking things off on my list.
Before I finished packing, however, the weather had turned again. I had the first layer in the trunk, two layers to go ... and packed those in the rain.
I wasn't really sure how I'd get the guns and bike in the trunk but after a couple of tries, found that guns first, layered on top of suitcases and other bags, then bike on top, was the trick. The next trick will be the final chapter -- hang-up bags on top of that. I'll have no visibility out of the rear, but I'm used to that from all my trailer hauling.
Ah yes, I also went into town to hit the post office, and was picking up some chicken soup when it hit me ...CHINA LILY !! I can't believe that they have China Lily in stock again !!!!!
All you have to do is google China Lily and you find the blogs / discussion boards for the past years about China Lily Soya Sauce. Canadians living in the U.S. could not get it and then the manufacturer stopped making it. For anyone who has used this product, it's a very black soya sauce. It's also high sodium, no foolin' around here !! We Canadians want our China Lily !!
So I bought four large bottles -- two for here and two for Florida. China Lily is without peer in the soya sauce world.
I'll bet that if I bought a case of the stuff, or several cases, that I could sell it in the U.S. Then the FDA would come and get me for sure !

Now if I had internet service (I'm typing this into an email and will save it as a draft, to be posted later), I'd do some googling and find out what is going on with CL. I didn't have a chance yesterday.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch ....
The day raced by. Packing and more packing for both of us, prepping for what amounts to an almost-week-long trip since we'll be living out of suitcases for that time. Hopefully I won't have to disturb the trunk of the car; both of our small bags will be in the back seat with Abby and the plug-in cooler.
Bonnie had invited us to come over at 4:30, so we headed there, visited with them for a couple of hours and then went back home and started dinner. While at their place, I'd re-wired their satellite receiver => TV connection, since they had a lot of snow on the existing setup. The existing connection was with a coax cable and I thought that the audio was running through the amp, but it wasn't, so Jim called me shortly after we got home to say that they had no audio ... sigh. I went back over, using the 4-wheeler which was in the already-locked barn, and wired the audio directly to the TV. They didn't have the sound on before, only looking at the absence of snow, so we hadn't noticed. All I did was use an RCA video cable and it corrected the snow generated by the old connection using coax through the VCR. The DVD still connects through the VCR; I'll fix that at Christmas, using a component video connection ... perhaps ... but I think that there's only one audio connection so I might have to leave it as is. The "source" selection on the TV is only for video ... but wait ... it also has digital audio in so I might be able to use that for the DVD ... anyway, they watch DVDs in the basement, the upstairs setup is mostly historical and simply fills the cabinet :).
Bonnie's comment when I was fixing things up was as follows : "if you live in the old age home they do this for you" ... ha !
Oh -- looks like I might have internet service again. I'll have to check the Doppler and see what the problem is and post this blog.
Today ... off to Stef's, hair appointment (Sandy, naturally), dentist teeth cleaning, fix glasses (me), whatever. Tomorrow, to PA.
There's more, but I don't have more time.
Onward !
ps -- as I finished typing, the modem went dark again. I'll post this eventually.
