Nov 15 - here and there

I was thinking of biking but the morning raced by and the air was so heavy and I had other things to do ... excuses excuses ...

I went over to Saxon and put in the dimmer and track lighting that sits on the "roof" of the guest bath (with the vaulted ceilings, the guest bath forms somewhat of a box at the side of the room, hard to visualize). When I originally put power up there and a switch down below, I intended to site lights there but we ended up putting the glass faces from Mexico with candelabra bulbs behind them. I've hung onto that piece of track lighting, thinking at various times that a) I should have taken it back and b) I should have thrown it ... but now it has a place. It matches the track lighting that I had installed on the opposite side of the room so it's balanced :).

I also de-installed the clothesline rather than buy a new one. Truth be told I couldn't find out where Sandy had bought it originally (she insists that I bought it) and she didn't want one of those square ones. So we are recycling.

We took the boat trailer over to Sharon's so it's now out of the way. We are just about finished with Saxon chores.

Back home, I installed the clothesline. That sounds easy but we got into a "debate" (sounds better than argument) about where it should be and how big. She wanted 12' to hang king sized sheets. I couldn't imagine needing 12'. It turns out that the Saxon setup worked fine, so we went with that (10.5'). I'd have liked it even shorter (non-existent) but Sandy loves her clothesline.

We then did some trimming of the bushes along side so that the clothes wouldn't hit them and while we were at it, we gave the peach tree out front a heavy duty pruning.

Speaking of fruit trees, as of this morning there was a second purple shoot so we're soon going to be in the banana business. Here are some pictures:

Papaya tree(s) at the front of the house:

Green papayas on one stem (there are more than a hundred of these and it's still flowering!):

After that, the day as pretty well done other than for me, some vacuuming and for Sandy, a trip to Lowes to buy some more plants for the back garden. She's gradually populating it and we're hoping that we don't get the heavy frost in December/January that will kill it all !

At 5:30 p.m. I sat down to catch up on email and saw that I had a ton, since I'm dealing with insurance issues for the Saxon house and of course the rental. We now have a signed lease !! that runs through November 30 next year. Wonder of wonders. Pretty soon they'll send us some money for 1.5 month's rent, but not before I have to pay property taxes on both properties and only about a small fraction of what I have to pay at that. Oh well.

Dinner was easy with leftover chicken, leftover roasted potatoes and non-leftover beans. The night before we had leftover steak in a stir-fry. When you're cooking for two some things are just bound to create leftovers. There's still chicken left but Sandy will have that in her lunch-time sandwich today and perhaps tomorrow.

Today ... I'm going to the gym and Christie is going to give me a workover. She pushes me harder than I push myself except that I'm still sore from going the other day. I did exercises that didn't hurt last Spring, but of course by then I was used to them.

If I had a biking companion who pushed me like Christie pushes me at the gym I'd be a much, much stronger rider. Hmmm. What does that tell me ? I should probably start going out to the club rides that run Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. I'll think about that. Variety like that would also help me ... but do I want help ? That's a good question !

After the Christie workout I need to go biking. That will be a first.

Onward !
