Nov 2 - all over the place

Yesterday was one of those days.

It started out with the movers. The phone rang before 8am and we were on our way to meet them at Saxon. We packed some small things in the cars -- vases etc. while the movers took the dining room and living room furniture. It was an easy move for them !

Back at the house, they placed the furniture, I paid for their two hours and we were on our own. It took a couple of go's to get the dining room furniture the way that it worked best; not so with the living room. Luckily none of the items were heavy and it was all just moved around in a small area. We tried a half-dozen combos and then settled on the best. It's going to work ... the place now looks like home !

Abby now has her own little room -- the elevator lobby. She'll get disturbed if we have someone here using the lift.

I kidded Sara that had she been here I'm sure that she'd find additional ways to arrange the furniture. She wants me to send pictures. I'm not doing it !

Next up, over to Advance Auto to have them check the battery and alternator. They both checked out, but as the guy said -- any battery will show a good voltage if the alternator is working or it has just been on charge. Yes and yes. Ok, that eliminates the alternator as a source of the problem -- good.

I called Pep Boys since that's where I purchased the battery just over three years ago. Three years is, of course, the limit for full replacement. After that it's pro-rata. After talking to them my understanding is that I'd bring the car over, they'd put the battery on a load test and verify whether or not it has any reserve. Assuming not, or not sufficient, they would give me a pro-rata credit towards a new battery. I'll do that in the next few days. The Pep Boys is located over at International Speedway Blvd in Daytona.

I went to the Sheriff's office to find out where I would have to report the thefts from Saxon. They checked jurisdiction and sent me to the Police Station over by the NSB municipal airport. I went there, talked to the clerk and she called an officer. After a few minutes wait she said that it was going to be a while and I should go home, call from there and they'd come and take the report ... so I did.

They never showed. It turns out that they went to Saxon, found Sandy there who was doing some final cleaning, took the information. Silly.

Next it was off to Home Depot to pick up another front door lockset and then over to Saxon to install. The locks are now changed and the garage door is dead-bolted.

Sandy met with Theresa over at Ocean Breeze, our realtor, and they are putting the house on their website. Sharon says that they get hits as soon as things are listed for rent ... we'll see.

I still have some maintenance to do there -- the roof needs cleaning off of branches from a recent wind storm and I want to do some trimming of the palms and mangroves out back.

What else ... oh yes, I relocated the spot where the coax cables come in through the wall to the TV, rather than having those cables lie along the floor. That was easy since that is the common wall with the garage.

-----

I had called TD on Monday to say that the card that I had reported lost never showed up. They sent me a new card by UPS which arrived the next day ! Now that's service. I don't know what happened to the card, my guess is that it fell out of my wallet at a service center along I90. I was fumbling with the cards, switching Canadian for U.S. at the gas pump and that might have been the culprit. The only other possibility is that I dropped it at the Panago Pizza by Stef's the night before, but Stef called them and they didn't have it. With the chip cards that you insert and remove yourself, it's much less likely that you'll leave a card behind. Still ... it's somewhere.

Onward ? Today I may go for a bike ride. I'm getting back into that "swing".
