Given the height, decorating the tree was much like painting the outside of the cottage, much only accessible from a ladder:

The day before, I'd brought the tree along Highway 522 and Osprey Road. Thank heavens there was no other traffic !! Originally 19 feet high, I cut it back to 14 feet to bring in the house. With the base and the star, it's probably 15 feet high.

Part of decorating is stringing lights from the loft railings ...

When organizing these pictures, I found this one from my birthday. When you get old you light your own candles ... and get pumpkin pie (my favorite) instead of cake ! The reason that I got pumpkin pie is that it's hard to stick candles into date squares :).

Jim and Bonnie were supposed to come over for a drink but Jim seemed to be coming down with a cold so they begged off. They are heading down to Barrie or thereabouts today, to be with their daughter Pam's family for Christmas.
Steak for dinner, with potatoes, naturally, grilled Japanese eggplant and beans. Everything was cooked on the barbie except for the beans. I love that natural gas jetted grill. It heats up to 600 degrees in about 3 minutes even in the winter ! Of course its BTU rating is probably higher than my furnace ...
Today ... nothing planned. Sandy has done most of her wrapping, perhaps I'll do mine.
Onward !
