Dec 24 - a white (dusting) Christmas

In this case "dusting" wasn't referring to cleaning, although Sandy was doing that. We got some snow, albeit a dusting, starting late in the day. I can't see the lake yet, but I don't expect any accumulation out there because it was quite windy.

There's enough ice now in every direction that I could not see open water by the end of the day. Continued cold and lack of snow is hugely helping ice production. That's good. I was measuring 3.5"-4" early in the day so we should be around 4" now, at least, which means that we can walk anywhere and use the 3-wheeler out front. Another day or so and I'll feel comfortable with the 4-wheeler as well, a much heavier machine.

Glare ice out front will make for lots of fun for the machines as well as anyone being pulled behind.

Otherwise it was a quiet day, as we expected. I went into town for 2pm Mass, stopping at the General Store on the way home for some frozen veggies and the newspaper. It was actually in; I guess that the delivery guy was in a rush on Christmas Eve to get his papers delivered and get home. I wish he had that incentive every day !

I think that I'll take a run into the bush with the 4-wheeler today, and perhaps the 3-wheeler as well to give both machines a run.

I continued my worm-ice-fishing but to no avail. I expect that it's too early for them to be hungry. We need some time with ice on the lake for their cruising patterns to change, bringing them close to shore, close to us. We'll see. We will be here for another 18 days or so.

That's it ... I think ...

Merry Christmas to all !

Onward !
