Apr 18 - back home

I realized as I was updating Facebook that the definition of home is were Sandy and Abby are ... but then again, I paused at that too -- the real definition is "where is Abby". If Abby is with me, then Sandy isn't home.

That was the single strangest thing about being up north ... every time I put wood on the fire, I expected to step over Abby on her pillow ... every time I went outside I had to check myself into NOT calling "c'mon Abby".

We've definitely gone to the dogs, or is it just me ? I realized at that moment that I would never live without a dog.

It was an easy trip down. From the Starbucks at Parry Sound, where I posted the last blog, my next stop was on the 400 for a bathroom break. The next stop was at the border, with a 15 minute wait at the Queenston-Lewiston bridge. From there it's only a few minutes to Flory's ...

Sue tells me that I should always tell her who the people in the pictures are, so Sue, here you go -- from left to right -- Sue, Flory, Dave ... ha !

Flory's daughter Sandra was there along with Sandra's husband Corky. We chatted and laughed for a full two hours and then I made my exit, getting gas in the rental car, parked and it returned in time for my 3pm deadline. I'd been thinking all along about 4:10 for the flight but realized when I got to the rental counter that the 3pm deadline was just as important ! They have a key drop that records a time.

Anyway, back to Flory's -- we had lunch, chatted about everything from Sue and Flory's travels to funerals to good times that Flory and Willie had with my Dad and Uncle Phil and families, to house hunting in Florida (Sandra and Corky) ... we do need to get together more. Perhaps Flory's Jimmy will drive them north this summer, we'll see.

The flight left early and arrived early. I called Sandy as soon as we touched down and she was 10 minutes away at that point. By the time we deplaned and I walked to the arrivals area and out to the curb, along she came.

Was it ever great to drive the M5 vs that Kia !! What a difference between rear wheel drive and front wheel drive, at the very least !

So ... we were both hungry but there was nothing at home. We diverted and ate at the SYC, chatting at the bar by ourselves, a nice quiet night.

Today I hope to ride. In a few minutes I head to the gym to get beat up by John ... shudder !

Onward !
