Check, check.
I pulled in two pike which we had for dinner, lost a couple as well. The prior day, which I forgot to mention, I got a whitefish partway up the hole before it dropped the hook. I grabbed but it was too slippery. That would have only been the second whitefish caught here, the first by David a couple of years ago ... ice fishing of course.
We're all packed or at least I'm all packed. Sandy is packed except for some last minute things and today she'll square away the food etc. She'll also move everything in the upstairs fridge to the downstairs fridge and freezer, no need to keep both fridges running. Besides, since we had problems with the upstairs fridge once-upon-a-time, I'd much rather shut it down than risk it freezing up in the freezer section and running too warm in the fridge section, although that's less likely to happen when the inside of the house is cold.
Speaking of cold, it's now -22F / -30C out there. Yikes. I want to go to Florida ! I haven't seen it that cold for a while.
I'm heading to Parry Sound in an hour or so; will visit Canadian Tire, TD, CIBC, TD and Matthews. I expect to go into the TD first off to activate the account that's now setup and then to the CIBC to close that account, carry a cheque back to the TD for deposit. At least that's the plan.
I've got computer backups running now so that the only thing that I need do at the last minute is backup volatile files -- Outlook and Quicken -- which I normally put onto DVD.
I sure hope that this works out !
We've got lots of food to eat. As I said to Sandy, we could probably live for a month off the food here although it would start to get boring at some point as we used up canned goods and rice. Boring but not starving would be the operative phrase.
As I mentioned, we had the pike last night -- we love fresh-caught-same-day fish ! -- along with sauteed rice and oven-roasted broccoli. The night before we had lasagna from the freezer; before that some fish caught earlier and frozen. Tonight we'll have a rainbow trout from the freezer and then hopefully we're outa here !
I did some work on the Granite Anvil and Randonneurs Ontario web sites yesterday getting ready for those to go live. Hopefully Phil Deguise of CCN can help me sort out a couple of last-minute questions and they will be live after today. We've got an all-members RO call today at 7pm and then a Board call at 8pm. The 7pm call is to approve new rates for 2013 after which I can turn on the site.
Onward ....southward ?!?
