May 27 - somewhat out, somewhat about

I went into town for sheep manure and cream, obviously unrelated endeavors !  Along the way I also gave Sandy a hand with something in the garden, cutting up some pipe to use as stakes to support some wood used for a slightly raised bed, caught up on some Randonneurs Ontario list maintenance work, fielded a bunch of emails, as usual, sprayed the weeds -- you get the idea, all over the map.

Sandy worked in the garden most of the day with the rototiller and did some planting, so that's underway now.  It was sunny and warm and the black flies and mosquitoes were out in full strength.  Hopefully by the time we get back from Reading / the Shenandoah, the black flies at least will be finished.

The cove is covered in pine pollen.  My allergies are bothering me -- eyes, throat ... sigh.

Sandy did the annual pasta + shrimp + fiddleheads dinner, great as usual.  We were both stuffed afterwards.

I did some experimentation trying to replicate the cream cheese, dill and smoked salmon cracker/snack topping that we've been buying from OceanS Seafood in NSB and it turned out well.  It's pretty easy to make.

This a.m. I did some organizing in the wine cellar, shelving a few cases.  I'm still way behind in my drinking or am I ahead in my buying ?  Perhaps it's the latter.

Stef's Home Inspection went well, if I haven't mentioned that before.  They've negotiated some reduction due to the shingles needing replacing.  Sales in the U.S. are mostly "as is" now, so there's very little negotiation -- do you want the house at that price or not ?  I suppose in some situations there would be negotiation.

Today, I hope to go for a bike ride.  I've got more weeds to spray and I think that I'll do that now because it's supposed to rain later in the week, starting tonight.  I don't want to mow the lawn (I could end the sentence there !) before I've done the spraying.

Oh yes, I did some work yesterday in the woodshed, organizing the piles.  I've ordered some more wood from Halle and need to make room.  That's another area where I'm ahead on my ordering and behind on my usage ... hmmm.  Stacked firewood does go past its prime, just like wine.

Onward !
