It's going to rain in the desert ? It's following me around ! They're calling for showers in Davis CA for Monday, the start of the ride.
I've got one foot out the door, or so it seems. I went for a bike ride yesterday but felt that I had to get home and start packing. As a result, I made it to highway 69 and back, which is about half my normal ride. Of course it's the tough half, with the increased rolling resistance on that chip seal, but half nonetheless.
I've got my bike mostly packed -- in the case but not tightened down. I'll have to weigh it to ensure that I'm not over 50 pounds. I've got clothes spread all over the floor in the bedroom with gels, bars, rags, chain oil, cereal ... it's really an odd packing list when you get right down to it. Last but not least I'll pack civies !
I still haven't decided which rack-bag I'm bringing. That has to happen soon !
It just started to rain here. Figures.
I did some cleanup in my den yesterday and did some more rearranging this a.m., putting the router in the wiring closet and rerouting the Ethernet traffic through the in-wall cables.
Emma and I did a little project yesterday, picking up all the waterlogged sticks in the cove as well as small stones -- chili rocks :). We also played some cards. Sandy played cards with her too.
While I was biking, Sandy and Emma went into town for a couple of things and then went out in the kayaks. Unfortunately it was fairly windy so they didn't get far.
Let's see ... I've got a shopping list for when I head to the airport. Some things are to go with me, eg. batteries and cable ties; some things stay, e.g.RJ45 plugs (for making up patch cables).
We have company next door ... I was up at Sandy's car figuring out how to access the "hidden menu" on her 3-series and finally got it working. It's much more fiddly than the 5's, but it's there. With the hidden menu I can monitor the battery voltage, fuel (accurately), coolant temperature etc etc.
I hear a baby -- that means that either Emma has a toy that makes those sounds or she's on Facetime with Sara again, must be the former.
That's it. Next stop, Toronto, back at the Comfort Inn Toronto Airport.
Onward !
