It's lucky that I have biking to take out my frustrations, otherwise I'd have a very sore head.
I've been running on the internal disk of this machine since the external disk died. I have another external disk that I've been trying to make my "root" but so far no go. The GRUB boot loader is driving me crazy !
I've restored several times, installed GRUB several times, updated the CFG files etc. etc. and for some reason, it won't boot from that drive. Perhaps if I stomp on it very hard ...
I did go for a bike ride. Yes. The wind was from the north, so I got to see the extent of the road construction. It's coming along nicely but I doubt if we'll be driving on it anytime soon. Besides, once we're driving on it, they'll have both lanes taken up and the old lanes will be under construction. It will be at least a year, I'd guess, before we'll be driving on four lanes from the French River north. At this point there's a lot of 70 kph speed limit and major delays due to blasting.
Sandy braved the northward flow as well yesterday, shopping in Sudbury. Food, tire balancing (helped with vibration), my watches in for band replacement and batteries ... she had a long list. She was back just shortly after I arrived, however, around 5pm.
She brought back tuna which had been partly frozen at one point, we figure, but it was good nonetheless. Combined with the Costco rice mixture and beans, we ate well as usual.
Today I'm going to be helping Jim with a couple of projects. He finally made it out of Smokey. Today the lake is glassy calm, would have been good for fishing except for two things -- beating my head against the GRUB-wall and lack of minnows. I really have to get out there and set the traps.
That's about it.
Onward !
