No good deed goes unpunished. That's my quote from George Cederholm. Being heavily involved in running a 1200k seems to spawn more work.
-- paying the hotels
-- collecting expenses
-- sorting out financial results
-- helping people with jersey sizing -- yes, many people found the jerseys small, so I'm coordinating a swap-meet of sorts ... yikes !
-- snail mailing caps, bags, jerseys, t's -- some of that is underway, with the first batch going out yesterday
-- on and on and on
I did get out for a bike ride on Tuesday. That felt good. Yesterday Hamid and Shab arrived around 3pm and we've been entertaining and entertained ever since.
I got the Bayliner into the water and we took H&S for a ride down to Lost Channel and around the Whip-poor-will Lodge, now defunct but interesting nonetheless. Perhaps David will want to go water skiing on the weekend; perhaps we'll go for a ride. In any event, it will be back in the garage by the end of Tuesday.
We had pickerel (walleye) for dinner last night along with Sandy's white and wild rice mixture and garden beans. Sandy fixed a nice salad for lunch. We're already part-way through the second loaf of my seedy bread. Today's menu includes Sandy's marinated lamb chops. Mmmm.
Now we're in the gazebo, watching Jason taking Lorraine out on Donnie's Seadoo.
Life won't be back to "normal" for quite a while. We're leaving for Florida on Wednesday, or at least that's the plan. Before that, I need to replace the rear tires on the X5, which are down to the cords on one side. I'd hoped to reverse them on the rims before that but when I went to see Daryl, it was obvious that the tires were shot. I guess that I should have done this before driving 2,000 kms on the Granite Anvil ? He's got tires coming in for me today and hopefully I can drop the car off with him tomorrow and get the deed done. If not ... I don't know.
It's clear that the camber problem has gotten worse. That's not a safety issue, but it is a tire wear issue. It may be time for replacement ... guess I won't get the car to 1,000,000 miles ...
I just got back from seeing Jim and Bonnie; helping Jim get a kayak under the cottage, picking up a little computer project from Bonnie and bringing back the splitter for use on the weekend.
Stay tuned !
