Nov 17/18 - life's ups and downs

So ... we had the treads installed yesterday.

So ... Sandy has decided that she doesn't like the color.

So ... we're sending them back this morning.

So ... back to the drawing board.

---------

Jason et al arrived before noon on Sunday and we immediately went to the SYC brunch.  It was great as usual.  Rose came over and said "hello".  We'd not been to the Tiki in a while; I actually felt a little guilty !

After brunch, we drove to the beach at the foot of Flagler to take in the kite festival.  There were some really neat kites flying !

Home again, Jason and gang decided to go for a walk on the beach ... their summer swan song before heading up into the cold.  Once they returned, we went to the Tiki for our 5pm beer/wine/tea (Kim).  We had snacks at home and then shrimp etc. for dinner.  They got to try one of our trusty standby's ... frozen peas.

Sunday was finished/done.

--------------

Monday started bright and early.  The gang left, much to Abby's chagrin, before 7am.  They had breakfast somewhere on the road.

I was getting ready to go biking, not sure when Sam was coming with the treads.  He showed up at 10am.  As he brought the first tread in, my immediate reaction was that I didn't like the colour.  It was too light.  Sandy said that she liked it, however, and I didn't say anything.  I helped them get the treads placed on the stringer plates and then left for my ride while they were drilling and fastening.

It was a great ride.  I felt good.  The patched tube held up, as it should since it was a proper patch, not a quick-stick.  The almost completely west wind didn't afford much of a tail either way but since I'm sheltered somewhat, it wasn't too bad.

Back home, Sandy said that she couldn't live with the color.  Her exact words were "I could cry".  Sam was due to come over to look at the placement of the railings and I told her that she really had to tell him.  She did so, by phone, and he's coming over this morning.

One of these months we'll have stairs, hopefully in 2013.

Onward or backward ?  Time marches on but sometimes we stand still !
