Apr 29 - On the water again

We had a quick trip, or so it seemed, but it was almost 4 hours.  Zoe goes down for her nap around 11am so the best that we could do was shorten that a bit and head out around noon.  With thunderstorms on the way in I wasn't sure if we'd make it back before the rain hit, but we did.  It was right at 4pm and even as I was washing the boat, we had some raindrops.

The real thunderstorm hit much later, boom boom with a real light show.  Sara, Jeffrey and Emma had gone for ice cream in the evening and as they were at the Wild Side store, it hit.  They had to run back through the rain to the car further down the street ... didn't get drenched but did get wet.

It was hot out but thankfully cloudy.  There was a stiff wind from the southeast, so much so that we were getting splashed from the waves on the IntraCoastal Waterway on the way back.  On the way out it was fine but we didn't get very far into the inlet before it was really rolling and even large breakers in the depths of the inlet.  That was what I expected, however, and we cut it short.  We had a good lunch at Inlet Harbor; tuna sliders for three of us; a very good looking clubhouse for Sara, kids meals for ... well ... the kids ... but they didn't eat much of their meals.

We then went to the beach, the current was amazing.  There was almost a 3' cliff of sand where we pulled in and Sara was able to simply walk off the boat.  Unfortunately with the timing and the outgoing tide, we had to cut the beach time way short.

Sara, Emma and Zoe had a blast on the beach.  The water temperature is getting into the high 70's and even warmer in the shallows.  Abby had lots of minnows to chase.  Sara and I have talked about "Abby 2.0" and yes, that thyroid medicine has done wonders.  She's either Abby 2.0 or has reverted to 1.0 depending on your definition.  She's definitely not that old dog that we brought south with us in the Fall.  Good !

Today we say goodbye to Sara, Jeffrey, Emma and Zoe.  I'll be taking them to the airport for an 11am flight.  11:05, I think.  We then have a few days before heading north.  April will be finished and we're into the next season.  My Florida riding is just about over but I'll get in a few more Perms.

Onward !
