Everything went "sort of" like clockwork. I left Midleton at 3:30 a.m. and drove to the Dublin port. Jim got there slightly before me and Sandy was waiting at the control booth. We were back to Holyhead before noon and rolling towards London.
This GPS doesn't work very well in the U.K. It wants to send us on minor roads and we cannot seem to change that. No matter what we do with the "avoidances" it sends us down farm roads with, sometimes, the bushes hitting the car on both sides. "Shortest Route" is not selected, but it always wants to do that.
Anyway, we made it. We tried taking roads that made more sense a few times but the end result was always the same. Perhaps the machines were trying to get back at us for not listening ?
We had dinner here at the hotel in North Whatever. We leave shortly for Heathrow to drop off the cars and have a van awaiting us to take us and the luggage to London. From that point we're afoot for a while.
Onward ...
